Our Mobile Journey

Some insight into what we do and how we do it

We have been developing mobile applications for over 10 years across multiple industries and for both B2B and B2C customers. As the industry has evolved, so has our approach to building mobile Apps.

Originally, all of our Apps were built in native code (Objective-C, Swift and Java), but this seemed wasteful. We needed to run two projects in parallel (iOS and Android) with the additional time and cost that this implied, not just for the development of the App, but for ongoing maintenance as well.

We embraced Microsoft's Xamarin platform, which allows us to build native Apps from one code base in a fraction of the time that it takes to build them in native languages.

Efficiency

After a painstaking review of the various tools to make us more efficient we ended up choosing Xamarin in 2014. Xamarin allows for the development of iOS, Android and Windows mobile from a single C# code base. This means that Xamarin provides an opportunity to develop a cross platform app, instead of having to develop separate iOS and Android platforms.

Costings

If we translate this into benefits for your business, Xamarin essentially means less time and money when developing an app. You get all of the benefits of native Apps without all of the time and cost. All you need is a single team of Xamarin expertise developers. This applies to not just building the Apps, but maintaining them too.

Microsoft

After backing Xamarin in 2014, we were delighted when Microsoft announced they were buying them in 2016.
